Jenny Xiu Tan is an Artist and Designer based in Oakland, California.
From 2019 to 2020, I traveled more than I ever had in my entire life. With the support of SFS, I was able spend my entire junior year abroad. I began my fall semester at Lady Sri Ram College in bustling New Delhi. My proximity allowed me to travel to Mumbai, Goa, Amritsar, Dharamshala, and even Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). After my Fall semester, I traveled to Beijing (北京) where I spent an intense one month studying Chinese. In the Spring, I traveled south to Taipei (臺北). There I continued my improve my Chinese and had the opportunity to travel to Taroko (太鲁阁) in Hualien (花莲) County. While this experience was cut short, I am grateful and fond of the memories I have and the people I met along the way.

Jenny (she/her) is interested in the intersections between art and politics, identity, and community. She is an advocate of slow fashion & intentional, low-impact living. She likes to read (mostly fiction, currently non-fiction), listen to the same song on repeat, upcycle clothing, make jewelry, run /jog/walk around Lake Merrit, and ask a million questions.
